Building Division

The Building Division is responsible for reviewing building plans to ensure compliance with the International Building Codes.

All New Construction requires a Building Permit

  • Single Family Homes (including condos and apartments)
  • Commercial Buildings
  • Additions/remodels
  • Garages/Carports
  • Accessory Buildings
  • Sheds >200 sq.ft.
  • Basements finish
  • New  signs for commercial buildings
  • Swimming pools and pool houses
  • Retaining wall >4ft from bottom of footing
  • Fences >6ft height from bottom of footing
  • Porches/decks
  • Any modification or alteration of plumbing, heating or electrical system

Apply For a Building Permit

What you need to apply.

New Residential & Commercial Construction

  • (1) Paper set of plans
  • (1) Electronic copy of plans and engineering
  • Site plan to a scale
  • Structural engineering plan review
  • Gas line layout with pipe sizes called out
  • Heat loss analysis
  • SWPPP (storm water pollution prevention plan)
  • Plan submittal fee
  • Contractor license number or owner builder form available at office

Most Other Types of Construction

  • (2) Sets of plans to scale
  • Wall section
  • All rebar size, spacing and length
  • Site plan
  • Any other details pertaining to specific job

Submittal Fees

  • New single family - $250
  • New commercial - $500
  • Commercial remodel/TI - $250
  • All others - $75
  • Submittal fee is applied towards cost of the building permit
