- Headstones may not be wider than 40 inches for a single grave or 80 inches for a double grave.
- Headstones must have a concrete border of 4 to 6 inches around the stone and must be flush with the lawn.
- Headstones not in the headstone row must be flush with the lawn.
- No headstone shall be placed during the months of December to March and one week prior to, during or one week following Memorial Day.
- Pleasant Grove City will not be responsible for flowers or other personal property left in the cemetery.
- Be aware that on occasion uncaring individuals have removed flower arrangements without the patron or staff knowledge or consent. The cemetery staff will remove flowers on new graves after 7 days. Special flower/mementos shall be removed by the family at the conclusion of services.
- Any object placed in the grassy area of the cemetery during the mowing season will be removed.
- All flowers, real or artificial must be placed in a container or attached to the monument. Flowers in movable containers must be placed on the headstone or base to ensure easy access for grass cutting.
- No glass containers are permitted.
- Objects including wire, iron, sticks, pegs, flags, toys, air socks, balloons, outdoor lighting, pin wheels, etc. driven into the ground are not permitted.
- Objects or decorations not in compliance will be removed immediately upon discovery.
- Flowers on headstones between designated rows are not permitted except on Memorial Day.
- The use of shepherd’s hooks shall be restricted to Memorial Day through the following Monday, and also the month of December. Use of shepherd’s hooks at any other time will result in removal by the cemetery staff unless attached to the headstone and are removable.
City ordinance prohibits the planting of any trees, shrubs or flowers in the cemetery without the permission of the Sexton. The Sexton will designate an appropriate area for such donations or gifts.
- Flowers and decorations that are not in permanent containers (and those that are wilted, damaged or unsightly) will be removed during the last week of March and the first week of April each year. Any faded artificial flowers will be removed and discarded.
- Flowers and decorations picked up are disposed of.
- Those who bring in decorations intended for use during the entire year are encouraged to wait until spring clean-up is completed before freshening up their displays.
- Cemetery staff begins preparations for Memorial Day one month prior to the holiday which usually takes the entire month to complete. Sprinkler irrigation is stopped from Friday afternoon through the end of Memorial Day to allow for placement of decorations. New decorations cannot be placed on a grave until the second Wednesday following Memorial Day.
- Grave decorations removed on the 2nd Tuesday following Memorial Day cleanup will be disposed of and will not be saved or kept at the cemetery.
- The cemetery office is staffed Saturday, Sunday and Memorial Day from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. to assist in locating graves and help as needed. Clean up of the cemetery will begin the 2nd Tuesday following Memorial Day at 6 a.m.
- Removal of decorations that do not belong to the owner will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
- Select burial spot/plot at the Cemetery Sexton’s office.
- Buyer will need to provide: * Name and address of person purchasing the spot/plot * Name and address of owner
- Sexton will assign a card number to correlate Cemetery and City Hall information.
- Sexton will give purchaser a copy of order receipt which must be paid immediately at Pleasant Grove City Hall.
- When said purchase is paid in full, Pleasant Grove City Hall must submit a copy of the updated ownership card to the Sexton.
- Owners will be issued a Certificate of Burial Rights.
Ownership transfers must be completed at Pleasant Grove City Hall. There is a $50.00 Resident to family or resident transfer fee and a $500.00 Resident to non-resident transfer fee and the difference between what was originally paid for the plot and the current non-resident rate. After completion a Certificate of Burial Rights will be issued to the new owner.
The Funeral Director or Mortuary must be provided with the following information
- Name of deceased.
- Grave spot/plot they intend to use. Grave location must be verified and authorized for use by the Sexton.
- If the opening and closing fees have not been pre-paid, the fees along with any perpetual care that may be due must be paid at Pleasant Grove City Hall prior to the service.
- When all pertinent fees have been paid, a work order will be issued and the spot/plot will be opened.
- If there is no obituary, the information must be given to the Cemetery Sexton.
